Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, secretary-general of the National Democratic Congress
(NDC), has rejected requests from minority lawmakers for party leaders to
withdraw notifications to parliament for minority-related changes.

Fifi Kwetey
has made it abundantly clear that the party has not rescinded its decision to
switch its parliamentary leadership.

He went one step further and refuted claims
that the party's decision to change its leadership in Parliament to his deputy
James Klutse Avedzi was made without any consultations.

 Numerous NDC lawmakers,
including Dominic Ayine, who represents Bolgatanga East, and Murtala Muhammed,
who represents Tamale Central, have criticized the leadership changes as
undemocratic and deeply troubling due to the absence of consultations. with
those in the minority.

Cletus Avoka, a former Majority Leader, has urged
the party to immediately reverse the decision, describing it as unpopular and
unsatisfactory.

In addition, some NDC supporters in Tamale South have issued the
party with a 24-hour deadline to reverse the decision or face their ire.

 Fifi
Kwetey, on the other hand, responded that the choice was made and will not be
changed. He stated that when parliament resumes in February, the party will
proceed with the leadership transition.

He went on to say that the party had
only a few days to inform Haruna Iddrisu of the decision and not consult him
about his removal.

"A decision has been made at the highest level of the
party leadership, and that is what it is. When the party leadership's decisions
become a faction issue, no precedent can be established. In parliament, the
party leadership appoints the leadership of the party.

Eyewitness News host

assembly does." The NDC announced that it had decided to appoint Cassiel Ato

Bagbin.

The Committee is looking into student riots in Krobea Asante

A five-member committee has been appointed by Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah to investigate the disturbances at the Krobea Asante Vocational and Technical Institute. Judge Samuel Obeng Diawuo, a Court of Appeal Judge who will serve as Chair, is one of the committee members. Rev.

Nuh Ben Abubekr, a Methodist Bishop who has retired, David Adu-Osei, a retired NIB Regional Commander, Richard Addo Gyamfi, an Acting Ashanti Regional Director for the Ghana TVET Service, and Dr. Former Director of Kumasi Technical Institute, Abeiku Apprey.

Richard Addo Gyamfi, Acting Ashanti Regional Director of TVET Ghana Service, has been appointed as the deputy of Ghana TVET Service Deputy Director General David Prah, a nominee member.

The purpose of the committee, which was established on January 25, 2023, was to ascertain the real causes of the riots, which have attracted public attention due to their level of destruction and impunity.

The Ashanti regional minister brought up the School Riots to the committee members and noted that it was necessary to establish a committee of inquiry into the matter due to the lack of clarity regarding the true causes of the riots and the extent and cost of the damage.

Consequently, Judge Samuel Obeng Diawuo's committee is tasked with determining the perpetrators' identities and any other pertinent information. There are two weeks for the committee to present its report.

Simon Osei-Mensah expressed his confidence in the committee, noting that its members had been carefully chosen from a variety of relevant backgrounds to bring their expertise and knowledge to the solution.

Murtala is angry with NDC because of minority restructuring

Murtala Mohammed, a member of the House of Assembly, has voiced her displeasure with the decision made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) opposition leadership to reorganize the minority front in Parliament.

He claims that the timing of the changes is "completely wrong" and that the NDC leadership made the decision without consulting the minority caucus in Parliament.

He urged party leaders to consult the caucus before deciding on the reorganization, pointing out that the decision had been made in haste without consulting parliamentarians. On Asempa Fm, the parliamentarian said in an irate voice, " What justifications do you have for changing the leadership? First: if they are ineffective."

Second, if you think you don't trust them, say so," he said, wondering if any of the fired executives had failed to live up to expectations. Murtala Mohammed and others expressed dissatisfaction with the timing and objective of the NDC's parliamentary leadership reorganization in a statement on January 24.

The party claims that Ellembelle MP Armah Kofi Buah took over for James Klutse Avedzi as deputy minority leader and that Cassiel Ato Forson took over for Haruna Iddrisu as the new minority leader. Mr. Mohammed, on the other hand, agreed that the measures are making the minority members with the most experience lose their leadership positions.

"Tell me in Parliament, with the exception of Haruna Iddrisu and Cletus Avoka, who have more experience in Parliament. Twenty years in Parliament, so they bring in new members instead of keeping our most experienced ones,” he complained. "Why is this happening? What led to this?

Why would you do that without speaking with us first? The NDC has always met with the caucus to present their proposal, and the caucus will make a decision based on the proposal they receive. That was the routine, "he continued. Aseidu Nketia In the meantime, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Chairman of the NDC, provided an explanation for this on JoyNews by stating that the change is in the direction of winning the election in 2024.

He claims that the change is a part of the process of reorganization to assist the party in capturing influential politicians in the 2024 election. We will focus our efforts on economic issues because the debate will be about economics. Additionally, it conveys to them that our objective is victory in 2024," he stated.

If the country is concerned about its economic situation, "they will choose to change if someone can offer their hope for a better government that produces a better economy, and you will be reshuffled if the voters do not." It can only do that by presenting its best economist, so show what alternative you have by fixing the economy right away.
